FOUNDER Annette BenedettiEditor in Chief annette@truenorthparenting.com Annette Benedetti is the mother of two wonderful daughters and an adorable son. She has over 12 years of experience working with children and their families. After earning her B.S. in Psychology in 1997, she began working as a counselor for children with special needs. Later in her career, she applied the knowledge and skills she had gained as a counselor to teaching preschoolers and in August 2007 Annette and her husband James opened The Village Preschool in Bend. After noticing the need for a quality family magazine in Central Oregon, Annette decided to put her B.A. in English (earned in 2001) to work and applied her background in writing and journalism to create the magazine you see before you. It is Annette's vision and dedication to journalistic standards that brought this publication into being. As you may have guessed, Annette rarely sits down. Amongst her many other pursuits, Annette has been studying yoga for over 7 years and has become a serious student of Iyengar yoga over the past 4 years. When she is not chasing her children around or working you can almost always find her on her mat. Sethi JacobsonManaging Editor sethi@truenorthparenting.com Sethi Jacobson is a wife, educator, entrepreneur, and mother of two young children and one mischievous Rhodesian Ridgeback. She is a self proclaimed coffee snob, and wannabe domestic goddess. When she's not working you can catch her daydreaming about the ocean, live music, and traveling the world. Kristi Simmons-KnightArt Director www.ksimmonsdesign.com Kristi Simmons-Knight is mother to Carver, Violet, and Henry, stepmom to Slater, and wife to Jason. She has worked as a designer in Bend since 2006 and loves working with True North because of the opportunity to combine her two passions: parenting and graphic design. When not working or parenting, Kristi enjoys roller skating with the Renegade Rollergirls, snowboarding, and taking weekend trips to the beach. Amie FisherCopy Editor, Web Designer, Webmaster www.brightfishdesign.com Amie Fisher doesn't think a career means doing just one thing, so she chooses to wear several hats. As a long-time freelance web designer, she enjoyed putting Annette's True North vision online and maintains the site with each new issue (though she couldn't have done it alone: many thanks to her husband Matt Smith and his database skills). But she has always enjoyed words as well probably inevitable as the daughter of an English professor and thus took on the role of TN Copy Editor in June 2009. She considers herself to be detail-oriented but doesn't mind being called nit-picky, and strives to leave no comma misplaced. When she's not working on True North or other web projects, she encourages a love of reading through her Usborne Books business, and, most importantly, cares for her two young children who inspire, amaze, and delight her every day. She lives in the Seattle area with her husband and kids and tries to visit Bend as often as she can. Jasmine Helsley-DonnallyOffice Manager jasmine@truenorthparenting.com A native Oregonian, Jasmine moved to Bend in 2006 with her husband and their oldest son, Gavin. After realizing the importance of continuing her education, Jasmine received her transfer from COCC and enrolled at Linfield University, pursuing a BA in Business Management. During this time she also gave birth to her second son, River. Jasmine has 10 years of experience in business management, managing everything from a small winery to multi-million dollar restaurants. Her passion for the environment, peace, and her two young boys has driven her to be politically active, socially responsible, and a welcome addition to the True North Team. When not at work, you can find Jasmine and her family taking advantage of all that Central Oregon has to offer. Kristin WillsAdvertising Representative kristin@truenorthparenting.com Kristin Wills (aka HoopZDaisy) recently moved to Bend with her husband and daughter. Not long after the move she gave birth to her son. Kristin has a passion for natural mothering, and considers breastfeeding, making baby food, and cloth diapering not a chore but a choice. Kristin is thankful to be living in Bend and enjoys skiing, rock climbing, and hooping. She is often found hooping with her 3-year-old at various Bend parks throughout the summer. Astacia ChristensonAdvertising Representative astacia@truenorthparenting.com Astacia Christenson has lived in Bend for 20 years and has some serious Oregon pride. Being in a constant state of creative flow drawing from her family, friends, and Native American Heritage Astacia is always searching for the next thing to create, from knitted hats, to jewelry, to hula hoops. She likes to take advantage of all Central Oregon has to offer with her husband and two daughters, and make as many trips to the Oregon Coast as possible. Kimberly TeichrowStaff Photographer www.kimberlyteichrow.com Kimberly Teichrow was born in California and moved to Oregon to attend Willamette University. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art in 1995, the year she also met husband, David. After graduating from W.U., Kimberly worked in marketing and graphic design for over ten years. She continues to work as a freelance artist and graphic designer, but her passion is truly sparked by photography. Every hallway in her home is filled with images of her family. This passion translates beautifully into capturing priceless moments for her clients, both young and old. She loves a photographic challenge, and has enjoyed developing her young photography business over the last few years. In her spare time, she drives the family taxi for her two young boys, wrangles two Shih Tzu puppies, is president of Jewell Elementary PTA, and looks forward to the occasional date night with her main squeeze. OUR SUPPORTERS The creative team behind our pretty face True North Publishing was built on the creative genius and generosity of several businesses and individuals.
